I have ended the hassle of encoding AVI to DVD. I bought a Toshiba DVD player with DIVX codec. Bought at Costco... $80 for model SD-K850 (HDMI, upconverts to 1080i), $50 for standard hookups model.

All you do is burn files to a DVD, put disc in player, and hit play. It’s a beautiful thing. Fit hours of video in .avi format on one DVD. reply

I need help. I downloaded a movie from scrape-torrent and all that stuff. When it finished, it was in AVI format. It won’t play in Windows Media Player, and I have all the codecs. The file is xxx.xxx.01.DVDrip.AC3-5.1[Eng]-Bajer. I didn’t give the actual movie name. But, what can I do to get it to work? reply

convert them into avi and divx or xvid and they will play thx reply

Right, I had this same problem. By the way, the answer is already given to you by Shadow5731, K-Lite codec pack, it’s a load of codecs for palying different kinds of media on your PC, The problem is that your codecs are out dated, and the ones used to make the avi videos were newer, therefore they wont play with your older ones, or the codecs were just not included with your PC. Just dowload it from somewhere, It solved my problem. I used http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm . Just install it, and all your AVI files should play, and any AVI files will also be able to be burned using Nero or whatever you use. Also, if you downloaded your avi video from a bitorrent programme, make sure it is not currupt, and fully downloaded, and not 99.9% done. I have also heard VLC palyer will do the trick (Download at: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) I haven’t tried that myself, so i don’t know if it will work too. reply

If you are using VLC media player, do you have to have the latest codecs installed to play movies on there? Or is it included with the download... reply

I downloaded New Tricks and it came out as 29 nine files that ended with
fov.r00
fov.r01
fov.r02
fov.r03
fov.r04

etc., for 29 files. If you get this type of download, the files need to be decompressed through a RAR decompression application. Then they are playable. At least they were for me on MPCSTAR 3.9 reply

Hey hows it going. I might have this fixed if it isn’t already. Or if you are having the same problem I am this may help you. Alright well my computer one day just all of a sudden stop playing movie files that I had on my External Hard drive. I could not figure out what it was. Tried downloading every codec, rebooted my whole laptop still nothing. I know it isn’t the external hard drive because on my Desktop the movies play perfect. Well I was messing around with it and figured out the problem. Go into your control panel under users, then at the search type in UAC or User Account Control. Turn this feature off. When I turned this off I went to the movies and worked perfectly. I use K-Lite Mega Codec pack, and Windows Media Player, or Media Center. I haven’t figured out how to work it while UAC is on but that just kept getting on my nerves so I disabled it. reply

To increase the limit in the updlaoer without altering any of your other server settings, you’ll need to overwrite the default php.ini for a single directory. To do that create a new file named php.ini and use the following for it’s content,01[PHP]0203;Increase maximum upload size04upload_max_filesize = 500M0506; Increase maximum post size07post_max_size = 500M0809; Increase execution time10max_execution_time = 500Now that you have this file just drop it into ~/wp-admin/ which is where the updlaoer files exist. By doing this you effectively overwrite the limitation on file uploading! You should adjust these numbers to fit your site specific needs, but it’s really that simple. Congrats! You may continue dealing with actual development concerns. reply
