you are right,

beeing iluminated by matroska, my days of downloading perfect images of DVDs are over.
there is no need of unpacking video or audio from MKV files just to recompose the movie in vegas, in order to make it readable on my DVD player,
everything in matroska is so thight and everyone who doesnt realize that MKV is the format of the future is a lame bastard who havent spend years studying video just to see a movie.

keep on developing matroska, just realize that this version is far of being perfect, and a export function might be usefull. reply

to Mr Ciryon...erm...the credibility of your sentence about using Windows Media Player Classic is very low, well, because as I am aware, everyone knows the name of the software he is using for a longer period of time. Or is it maybe your mistake? Because I was talking about MEDIA PLAYER CLASSIC and not WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER (CLASSIC?) and mixing those two is like saying Windows Explorer and Total Commander is the same.

The suggestion written in my previous post is a perfect solution for people watining to watch .MKV movie files, not the ones that want to get to the bottom of the format structure.

I appreciate the .MKV filetype features and for me, like for the most of users, like for the users that matroska video format is being developed for, is movie quality / file size ratio an important thing (along with other features mentioned in other posts) is the important thing. From what in my post did you get the fantastic idea that I’m just on .avi or something else and I hate .mkv? :))

AllIn1 is not just a bunch of codecs. Try it once, you will stick to it. That’s not a message just for you, but for everyone.

How to clean the system? Uninstall every codec before taking the two steps from my previous reply, and if this does not work, reinstall system and proceed my suggestion. Really hard to help information.

Good day to you all... reply

Umm .. I have the same problem as DeathDan, except I tried it in Windows Media Player 9.
And I went here: http://coreaac.corecodec.org, then to the downloads section, then it said this:
Downloads:

You won´t find any binaries here, they are at Rarewares.

Latest version:
CoreAAC 1.0b8 20031024-1 Source Code (Changelog)

Old versions:
(not available)

So I clicked CoreAAC 1.0b8 20031024-1 Source Code, and it went to http://corecodec.org/.
And now i’m lost..
Someone please help me! > reply

Sorry.. it’s me again.. I just desparately want my problem to be solved, so i’m going to repost what DeathDan said, and ChristianHJW’s reply.

Hi,
I am trying to view some .mkv anime files and I have read some of the forum, so I apologize if I have missed anything. My problem is that I can see the video but I cannot hear the sound at all. I have d/led the Matroska pack and I’ve tried the Zoomplayer and I still have the exact same problem, thanks

Posted by ChristianHJW

@ DeathDan :

Google for the latest ffdshow Decoder filter and install it, and your problems should be gone. Your anime likely is containing some AAC audio, and we are aware that there is a bug in CoreAAC right now, the AAC audio decoder we normally provide with our pack.

Installing the latest ffdshow will fix this problem, alternatively there is an updated CoreAAC here : http://coreaac.corecodec.org .

Soon we plan to launch the 1.2.0 version of our packs, fixing this also.

I’m not really used to using matroska, but my first experience to it was fairly good.... until recently, when i was trying to play an mkv, but the dam thing doesn’t produce audio....

i have tried to look at the forum and stuff, and even tried the mentioned decoders ffdshow decoder....

i HAVE attempted to get AAC Core decoder, but the dam thing is like... too complex for me... i cant get nothing out of it but mere source code which is absolutely weird.... even following their instructions on using some NSIS program to make an installer out of the source code is unsuccessful...

so here is the error i got, hope someone can help me, i cant cope looking for answers anymore....

Install ALL codecs and codec packs, and install the CCCP. Almost all of the codec packs are poorly put together and cause incompatbility problems. Remember that the more codecs you have installed, the more problems occur. Go here:

http://www.kickassanime.org/wiki/index.php?title=Compack

Install it, and you’ll be set. It’s rare to find a file that won’t play after you install that. Be sure to uninstall all of your other codec packs before installing that one. reply

Wow Harpalus, thanks alot.. I did exactly what you said and it all worked... I can watch the anime and hear the sound. The only thing is that it is very quiet, but after i check the volume option in the options it becomes louder although, it is still a little quiet even when I have the windows volume control at max an the WMP volume at the max. Thanks again. reply

I have installed the Lite Pack (v1.1.1, but have only came across one problem. Is there a way to set the audio to English only so I don’t have to switch it every time. I’ve tried every possible combination that i could think of in the options, but I can’t seem to find one that works for English and no subtitles. I can turn the subs off if I go into the “Audio and Subtitle languages” by using *,off. But not if I use off in the “Subtitle language priority”.

Thanks reply

Mm.. I have a problem running my .mkv wherein the audio chops insanely, but the video is going along fairly fine.
I’m running media player classic.

Lesse.. I also got the cccp, matroska pack, and lazyman’s mkv trying to get this file to run properly.

At some point in clicking around with the ffdshow audio decoder, I got the audio to go smoothly, but then the video chopped like crazy.
