Hi,

Well I download pack of mkv and so I can watch mkv file. But the problem it is my Windows Media Player not work good now and all I can’t see many kind of files (like avi) I was able to watch before install this pack.

So I uninstall this pack and now my Windows Medis Player work like before. But now I can’t watch mkv file.

Like a dog who run after his back !

If the full pack will give you problems for watching other video file types, there is likely a conflict between ffdshow and an older codec pack you have installed. In this case, install the matroska lite pack only, and try again.

i’m having problems viewing .mkv files...
i use VLC but i can’t seem to view the movie, altho the audio track plays fine. i get an error msg saying:

“main: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `undf'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format”

Tried using Mplayer as well but its just as bad.

i’m using a mac.. and most of the solutions posted here seem to be for PCs... any suggestions for a Mac user? reply

The movie you got is likely using Realvideo ( RV9/RV10 ), being a great video compression for anime or hi-res 1 CD rips. Unfortunately, there is no way to play this on Mac’s as there are no working Realvideo libraries for Big-Endian Mac’s :( .

On LINUX both mplayer and Xine will work fine, when compiled with the right libs for Realvideo support. On Windows every DShow player will play them, when RealAlternative ( Google is your friend ;) ) or Realplayer are installed to provide the Realvideo decoding libraries, and the matroska full pack.

VLC is normally a great player for all matroska files, but MKV’s with RV9/10 won’t play because VLC is GPL and the GPL license doesnt allow to link to closed source libraries, other than the OS itself :(.

Hope this helps

What pack did you download ? Please note we recently introduced a new pack ( 1.1.0 ) and with this one switching of the audio streams can be done with a right click on the matroska tray icon on the right bottom side of the screen ...

I downloaded Matroska_Pack_Full_v1.0.3. It might be another problem, but I’m not sure. I clicked on the matroska tray icon on the right bottom side of the screen English (English Audio Subtitles) AND under Speakers in the MatrixMixer, changed the input to 1/0-mono. Although it switched to Japanese and English subtitles were there, it lags a lot and I’m not sure how to switch it back to English. I’m not really good with these stuff, so if you are able to help, I’ll greatly appreciate it. reply

The only tray icon appearing if you have the old 1.0.3 pack is DirectVobSub, Gabest’s great subtitles filter which is coming with the pack. It will NOT allow you to change audio languages, only subtitles languages.

Install the new 1.1.0 pack, only then a matroska tray icon will appear and only then switching audio languages in players without built-in audio stream switcher, like M$ WMP, is possible.

Anybody knows how to use Haali Media Splitter?

I don’t really know how to change the settings to my preferred settings so that whenever i double click it, it will have Jap audio and eng subtitles.

if i right click the Haali Logo, i get

Video
(selected) V: Undertermined
Audio
A: [English]
(selected) A: [Japanese]
Subtitles
(selected) S: English Audio Subtitles [English]
S: Japanese Audio Subtitles [English]
No Subtitiles

Okay. the problem is that i can’t get it to always play “S: Japanese Audio Subtitles [English] ".
I managed to get the Japanese audio to play always.

Under options/Languages, There are 3 tabs

Audio Language Priority (Instructions: a comma seperated list of three letter language codes)

Subtitle Language Priority (Instructions: a comma seperated list of three letter language codes)

Audio and Subtitle Priority (Instructions: a semi-colon seperated list of three letter language pairs. The splitter will select one of these pairs first before trying separate audio and sub list.
Example: jpn,eng;jpn,rus;eng,eng; )

Okay so i tried entering “jpn” for Audio Language Priority and “eng” for Subtitle Language Priority.
But to no avail.
SO i removed them and tried “jpn, eng;" for Audio and Subtitle Priority.
The audio becomes Japanese automatically but the subtitles still remain at “S: English Audio Subtitles [English] ". And i have to manually select myself.
I feel that there’s a conflict between :

S: English Audio Subtitles [English]
S: Japanese Audio Subtitles [English]

As both are ENGLISH.
is is the reason for the problem?

It can be downloaded from http://haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv/
I got the media splitter from a codec pack http://packs.matroska.org/. Matroska Pack Full v1.1.1 (2005-05-23) . reply

Hi I need help with a .mkv file. I am using BSplayer to open it. I downloaded the codex pack from Matroska (excuse the spelling if its wrong), I opened the file in BSplayer and I get picture and some sound but no voices. The subtitles are also not present, but when I open it in media player classic I get the subtitles but still no sound. I used the media info program to get information about the audio strings and this is what it gave me

First Audio Stream - A_AA/mpeg4/LC/SBR

Second audio stream - A_AA/mpeg4/LC/SBR

First text stream - UTF-8

I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me I really wanna watch this anime reply

I expect you are using the latest pack, 1.1.1 ?
The in BSplayer, you have to disable the internal subtitles renderer normally, as it will be incompatible with the new Haali splitter ( tray icon lower right corner, showing the matroska dolls logo ).
Is it possible that this is an anime for karaoke singing ? If so, there is certainly a different audio track to select ( right click on the tray icon to choose ), including the voices.

well yeah I am using the latest plugin but its sorta funny cause when I play the file in BSplayer I get the voices and the background sound but no subtitles. This is when the subtitles are off in the BSplayer settings. When I play it in Windows media classic I get the subtitles and background sound but no voices, and also in wm classic I have to turn the sound up very high in order to hear anything, and this cannot be a karoake anime, It is the Ah! my Goddess movie so I would think it isn’t. and there is no option for include the voices.Im stumped reply

for those that still have trouble with hearing japanese and english in a movie, try adjusting ur speakers to the left or the right. that will usually solve the problem.
that is quite common for asian (vcd) movies.

this reply’s about a year late. but hope all well goes well.

and others who don’t mind installing players, vlc players can play a lot of media that mpclassic and realplayer cannot. however, vlc is noted to be quite unstable for some users that i’ve interacted with. it’s ok for me tho.

cheers.
