Not sure if is not a topic already so excuse me in advance. I have an video file without extension, i know it is a video file because i extracted it from a .mkv archive (V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC) i want to watch that file as it is, just like that but not sure what extension should i name it, or if i need to convert it to some other format. Any help is welcomed ppl, thanks a lot.
GSpot and Avicodec are both video analysers, use them to open your file with. On GSpot click render and find out if you can play it or you miss some codecs on Avicodec is a tab called “Web” for audio and for video. If you click on it give you a link to download some codecs.
Thx pal, but the damn file doesn’t work on gspot or avicodec. Gspot can’t render it and avicodec can’t even open it. Should i rename it to some extension to make it work?
Try Magiciso and open the file and see if any difference.Isobuster or Ultraiso do the same job and according to the name of you file you have to get mpeg4.With avc is not clear enough because is not an extention might be a mp4 player or a camera.Good Luck.
As far as I know you will need to put the video into a container (mkv again, probably) before it is usable.
Out of curiosity, why did you extract the video stream anyway?
put it back into the mkv container then install matroska pack full and play with VLC.
Thank you
