I’ve been reading some people say that you can watch the .bin files using VLC but when I run it in VLC I get sound but no picture. Anyone know why this would be and tell me how to fix it or if I want to watch it on my PC should I just convert the file type? reply

To SIRENA,

Thanks for the instructions Re; KVCD - to - AVI conversion.
I tried it and it worked perfectly.

I still can’t sem to find a KVCD player, or codecs, for my PC, and for some reason NERO won’t burn a KVCD file to disc for me !! but I can play AVI’s on my cheap (LIDL) DVD player, so problem sorted.

Thanks guys (particularly SIRENE) for all the technical advice - cheers!

Merry Xmas - happy 2008

Just open the .cue file with PowerISO (or the equvalent) and extract the .dat file (usually in the MPGAV folder) to a folder of your choosing. Go to that folder and rename the file with a .avi extension. The .avi will play just fine.

For those of you that need to convert Kvcd to Avi, Dvd To Kvcd, and so on....A good program to do this with is TMPG, you can convert almost any vido file format with this, you can also doctor some vidio files so that the quality of it will be better.

For those of you that are downloading Kvcd’s you do not burn them onto DvD’s you burn them to a regular CD-R. You will have to have a Program such as Nero, I personally use Fireburner, it is quick and simple. Then you Burn just the Cue File, and if you want to watch them on your computer, you can do so with VLC Media player. Also be sure to keep in mind when burning a Kvcd that the slower you burn them the better the quality will be when watching them. Also all Dvd Players are not kvcd compatable. reply

I converted it with Magic iso: Open the CUE file. It will ask if you want to load it as a VCD. Click yes. Once it’s loaded go to the mpegav folder, right click on the ~700mb DAT file and choose Extract. It will then conver it to a MPG. reply

a few days ago I was looking for a way to convert a KVCD file but with no luck. Yesterday I needed a programme to convert large video clip files and found a great free programme Prism Video Converter that did the job really well. I then added the KVCD file pushed play and what do ya know it worked!! I converted the file to avi. Here’s the link to this great free softwear

http://www.nchsoftware.com/prism/index.html

I can’t say whether any quality was lost as I’d never seen the file in its original form, there are other options that avi to convert to. Hope this helps others. reply

HOW TO BURN A KVCD IN NERO:
To burn to disc using Nero just right click on the cue file which
will be the smallest of the 2 then choose Open With and browse to
your Nero.exe (possibly just called Nero) file. (Located in Program
Files / Ahead / Nero folder) Ensure the *Always use the selected
program to open this type of file* box is ticked, this way next time
all you have to do is double click the cue file and the burning
interface will open, now choose which speed you would like to burn
your disc at. It’s recommended to burn at no more than 8x, if you
burn at a faster speed this may impair the quality and make the
video pixelated. reply
