I have the opposite problem. I am trying to convert a mpeg file in my computer to put this into a SD card to play in my canon A1100 IS camera. I used a Super C converter with AVI container, MJEG video codec, WAV pcm u8 audio codec. Video is set to 640x480, 4:3, 30F/s, 9216kbps. Audio to 11025 sampling freq, mono, 88kbps. But the camera would not recognize the avi file I created. Any suggestions?
you can choose a much easier and economic way to cnvert AVI to MOV.
I recommend Aunsoft video converter which is powerful in converting among almost all video formats, like AVI, MOV, FLV, WMV, MKV, MPEG, MP4, MP3, FLAC, OGG, AC3 and ect.
And for the users who want to burn AVI to DVD, firstly, you can use Aunsoft video converter to convert AVI files to mpeg and then use a DVD burner to burn the file on to DVD.So YOU can also use Aunsoft video converter to convert AVI to MPEG.
It can produces output video files with the least loss of original videos.
Hope my advice can help you.
I took videos with my camera as well as still pictures.
I downloaded all to flash drive. I downloaded flash drive to my pc - pictures are fine - all videos are AVI..nothing but colored lines as if something is playing. How did this happen? How can I get “video” to a DVD as a video not AVI?
Judging from the questions above, there are many problems in how to convert videos from Canon camcorders ,either AVI or MTS formtats.
Usually the free software produces bad quality of output video and audio.some of them even has virus, and not safe enough.
So you can choose some good quality and ecnomic software, now i recommend Aunsoft video converter which is professional in converting among various video and audio formats, like AVI,MPEG,MOV,MP4,MKV,FLV,MP3,OGG,FLAC,AC3 and ect.
It you are a HD canon users,Aunsoft MTS converter is a good choice.

I have a Canon Powershoot A710 IS camera. I use it to take viseos which I edit in Canon ZoomBrowser EX 5.7 ver. software. The problem is I wish to edit the movies in Adobe Premiere 6/6.5. But the video file format does not support Adobe Premiere. The compression technique used by ZoomBrowser Ex is unknown. How can I convert the video files of my camera to .avi format so that I can edit them in Premiere? Please help. Thank You.
