Nice to read through all the replies to this and see how many people have wasted their time with an education. I have been looking for the first in-car MP3-DVD player. But thank you to the person who found the software to convert the audio into a dvd readable state. Then all you need is the dvd player in your car and you have 5 GB of MP3 on each disc. It would still be nice to have a dvd player that could read mp3 like cd mp3 players do. LISTEN UP MANUFACTURERS!! reply

STANDALONE DVD - MP3 PLAYERS - PORTABLE - I have been doing alot of research on this today and have found that they have been made by:

SONY
(designed as an external DVD disk drive and recorder - worked horribly according to the reviews) (this might also be because the person using it did not know how to burn a data cd - not sure)

COBY
Not yet available

INNOVATEK DS-701
Didn’t read too much about this one

The Samsung DVD L-25 is cool and has a screen, but only plays mini disks.

I need a nice cheap portable dvd player (small screen OK) that will play these dvd -MP3s. I guess the old fashioned way of taking the disk and playing it is the best way to see what works. Guess you could then follow up with online buying. The way these stores work now days, nobody really even cares if you’re there, so I wouldn’t feel bad about using them as a test site...

FOR THE GUY THAT KNOWS OF THE FORUMS THAT WILL BLOW US AWAY AND MAKE EVERYONE PACKAGE UP THEIR COMPUTERS CRYING.....

You have stated that you are getting plenty of action. I would say this is doubtfull and I will coin a phrase we used in elemetary school...“You think you’re all hot."

YOU SIR, ARE A GAY-ASS! reply

I always thought it wouldn’t work, until one day I had a full pack of burnable dvd’s left and no cdr’s. So, I gave it a try. I made a “backup” of a movie I already burned and put it in my crappy dollar store cd player, and it played the audio. Now, I just take my entire music library and back it up on a dvd and carry it with me. Obviously a cd player cannot read the video data on the dvd disc, but apparently on some cd players it can play back the audio files. All I can say is give it a try. reply

I think you all can help me also!!!!!!!

I have finally fixed my computer so I can load video, which I have done. I took some footage from a VHS, loaded into Vegas 5.0 using Adaptect!, which worked fine. I was able to edit it, etc. Now I want to burn a dvd, take that dvd, load the video onto my home system, and E-mail the footage to friends (with sound). I have to manual: DVD Architect and Instant Vegas and the DVD Architect is too descriptive and not pinpoint; the Instant Vegas is better but it doesn’t have much info regarding how to do all that is required to burn DVD’s. Can anyone help me on this? I spent a whole day on it, reading the manual, trying different rendering/saves, and no luck. I did manage to save the video on a DVD in a Windows Media Player format, and it would play on my editing system; when I took it to my home computer, it doesn’t even show up as a file on the DVD. I’m not sure how I was able to get it on the DVD because I had tried so many things, then I looked and there it was. I was able to save the file over to Architect as a MPEG*1 file, which took a while because Architect kept looking for .dra files, but I finally got it over there; then, when I tried to used the “burn CD” function in both Vegas 5.0, or DVD Architect, many times I was able to render, but when I went to save it to the DVD, I got the message “Please insert a write once disk in the drive and press OK to contine”, which didn’t make sense because there was nothing on the DVD, which is a DVD-R-WR DVD; I also tried regular 80 minute CD’s but they didn’t work either. Hope this is enough info. Help. Thanks. (denoams2003@yahoo.com) reply

Hi,

I am relatively new to all of this and still finding mt feet, but was wondering if it was possible to extract the audio from a dvd (e.g A music concert) and put it on cd to listen on stereo or for ipod?

If anyone could help that would be great.

Thanks in advance. reply

It seems most people here are retards.
The question is, do they make a Walkman-type player that will play MP3s off of a DVD, ie, it has DVD reading capacity. Thanks for the research some of you, you’ve answered my question with “no there is not such a thing”. Too bad, it would be like having a 4 gig iPod but you could change disks... it would be better than an iPod in some ways. Oh well lets keep hoping and watching... And to all those who write these responses about “you cant play dvds on mp3 players, morons”, go to hell. You’re missing the point too.

First off all, I have encountered the same problem, the problem is not the dvd’s or the burning format
etc...it is the player that wont register it...For instance I burned a whole dvd disc full of dvd’s checked it for data content after burning was done, then went to go play it in my dvd/mp3/wav/avi/cd-r player in my car...only 1/3 of the files actually showed up....what gives? reply

Auio Dvd converter is nothing but a sofware which along with audio codec changes any music file(Audio/Mp3) to dvd format for writing.

Hey cascaderob,

what version of Nero are you using ?

i got 6.0.0.1.3 and when i goto Nero SmartStart and choose DVD i get an option to make a MP3 Disc.

if you dont have that just go ahead and create a disc as if you were burning data files and add the MP3’s to the disc and burn.

dont think of MP3’s as audio, they are just data files. reply

Hi Tama,

waz up? I want to know that how to burn(which option to choose) to burn mpeg video files and DVD video formats in to same DVD disc by nero.I mean its easy to burn DVD formats(vob, ifo, bup) but is there any option where I can burn both DVD formats and mpeg formats into same disc?

Will nero covert mpeg formats to DVD formats or first I have to convert them to DVD formats by help of sofwares like WINAVI converters then burn them along with DVD formats.

Take care,c ya. reply

Hey Rob,

dont know why you want to mix DVD and MPG files, only a PC would be able to play both.

you could try this. When you author a DVD you get the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders, you could add another folder and put your MPG in there. reply

I have something called audio dvd player, which converts files to dvd video/audio format but can take HOURS to compile, for some reason, hehe..
What I dont' understand is, why hasn’t someone come out with a portable dvd player that can run on 2-4AA batteries that can have all the normal dvd functions AND also play mp3s thrown onto a DATA based dvd+-R or +-RW disc?

It can’t be that difficult, what with 2500+mah nimh batteries and all, you should be able to get good compression/buffering ratios to make decent power consumtion levels, its not like I’m asking for the first generation to be able to play a 2 hour movie in HiDef video output at full volume on 2AA batteries, now that would be a miracle, haha, but something is feasable considering how cheap dvd player lasers are these days. reply
