MKV(x264) is HD Video, if you use windows system, you can try to search some dvd creator tools, they always can solve your problem.
If you are using mac, iDVD can not help you, it can not support HD video import, you just need another dvd creator tool. Another, you can select the output dvd disc(D9,D5), 4.7G is D5 disc, so do not worry, you can finish it perfectly :)

Hope these helps ! reply

.mkv is a container, like .avi or .mov or .mp4 or any other video and audio formats you can think of. I just tested a good program - Mac DVD Creator, it can easily burn .mkv files to dvd on Mac.

Cheers, check it out reply

I have downloaded movies in 720p in mp4 format, burned them to a standard dvd as a data disc and I am getting better than dvd quality, It looks like 720p for sure. I am playing them on a blu ray player but I thought the top resolution possible from a dvd was 480p? Or is the 480p limit only the peak of a std dvd player? reply
