I have a movie on my computer that’s in .mkv format and I want to give a copy of it to a friend of mine, the thing is that his DVD player is a cheap/old model. It says on the front of the player that it can play DVD, .S-VCD and .VCD. How can i convert and burn the file so that it plays on his DVD player?
I’m not a very good computer guy but I have no problem following instructions, so if you could help me with what programs I should use and such I would be very grateful.
Just need a DVD Burner can burn .mkv to DVD Disc, then you can play it on your home DVD Player.
Do you try iDVD, or get to try a third party software for burning mkv to dvd, if it can the work well, it’s completely worth it

Well,previous post mentioned some of apps,but (and you can check it on many user forums)the best app (can convert almost anything including .mkv,and add aditional subs,audio,backgrounds,proper DVD-chapters) is (since the version 2.0,and that was 2 years ago) is the VSO´s ConvertXtoDVD (now on version 3.8...).At the end of coding you can even choose to save it on PC (and burn it with your favourite app),or burn it with it´s internal burn-engine.I´m using this program almost 3 years now (to convert & burn in proper DVD-form 4 my own player .mkv´s,.avi´s,...,even old VHS-tapes),though I have in stash Nero´s,Crative´s,Adobe´s,Pinnacle` s,Cyberlink´s...finest.This little baby is better of them all !!!
