Topsyturvy is an idiot. Just spend the $40 bucks to get the “Philips DVP642 DivX-Certified Progressive-Scan DVD Player” you drag and drop your video files to a cdr, burn it, put it in a watch. Problems over. reply

look guys why bother with vcd convert them to dvd with a programme called avi to dvd which you can download from mininova or btjunkie then all you do is select the avi file to burn it converts first then burns it takes 90 minites and the quality is great.or better still buy a cheap divx player for 30 quid and burn as data file a dvd will hold 6 films much cheaper option.or why not buy dvd with usb port and buy a flash stick so you dont have to buy dvds these are the best 3 options so i hope you idiots get on lol reply

You should try Total Video2Dvd Author for avi to dvd conversions (and many other format types too). It is hands down, in my opinion, the best authoring software program out there and one of the easiest to use.

In one easy step, you can use DVDFlick. It an open source, free download. I have been using it for over a year, and it works perfect. Import your .avi file, convert it and burn it burns automatically with imgburn. I create an .iso as well, and burn it with CloneDVD. However, DVD Flick will burn it after it is done converting wtih imgburn. The only problem I ever run in to, is sometimes the audio is out of sync. If that happens, they I don’t create the vob file to 5.1 surround. You just have to experiment with it. VLC will play the .iso after DVD Flick creates it, so you can always see the quality, and the audio sync before burning to DVD. (if you don’t burn it with imgburn). reply

I’m downloading movies using Limewire, and .avi files. When I click on previewing them, it just completely shuts down my Limewire program OR opens Windows Media Player and tells me that either the file is corrupt or that the file type is not supported.

I’m not sure what to do. Please give me advice! It’s a brand new computer. Do I need to install some sort of plug-in or get a codec? I am new at this all, but really want to download movies, and then learn to burn them too.

Thanks!! reply

Hello.

I’m from the Philippines and I’m new to this burning thing.
I downloaded a DVDRip file from rapidshare, and it played on VLC along with its SRT file/subtitle.

The next thing I want to do is to be able to play it on my DVD player, which is a Philipps brand. My computer has only CD-ROM 52x Max.
Will I be able to copy the 375MB file to a CD and then play it on my dvd player with its subtitles? Or do I need to copy it to a dvd-rw? reply
