The simple method is, forget Nero and get Aurora this will covert your AVI files and burn them onto DVD or VCD all in one program. reply

Here’s a straight forward guide....

1) You have an .avi file (first thing you need to do is convert this .avi file to an mpeg2 file)

2) Buy/Download a program called winavivideoconverter

3) Install and run winavi

4) Click on the DVD icon

5) A new window will open

6) Select wherever your .avi file is on your pc, then hit open....another new window will open up

7) ok....click browse and select wherever you would like to save your mpeg once it has been converted

8)in the box below browse..there is a drop-down arrow. Click this and select mpeg2

9)Finally, Hit ok (this will now start converting your .avi file into an mpeg2 file (Approx time:5mins)

Once this has finished, close down winavi

10) ok...you know have an mpeg2 file. Right, now open Nero and select 'Create a DVD Video'

11) Now all you have to do is follow Nero’s simple steps....when it asks you to insert a file...click browse and find wherever you saved your mpeg2 file on your pc (as in Step 7 above)

12) carry on following the steps...the last step will start burning your mpeg2 file to DVD(it will also show you a video screen of your mpeg2 file playing in the top-right hand screen)

13)TIP - to speed the Nero process up....click the drop-down box in the lower left hand corner of your screen and set to 'High'....this will speed Nero up and you should have your DVD burned and ready in about 70 mins depending on your PC’s spec. reply

Umm, have u tried to press “Advanced”, and set the framerate to 29.97? I think that will be the NTSC standard, 25 is PAL... I’ll say it’s worth giving it a shot... Hope it helped! reply

All u getting errors and dont know what software to use -- very easy to burn any movie file
pls understand the concept first that before u can burn movie as dvd u have to convert movie file ( no matter what format of codec ) to dvd format and then burn
various software can do even for 1st time users and u dont have to be a rocket scientest to be able to use software
what works that i have tested and still use
vos divxtodvd / nero 6.6.0.8 reloaded
dvd shrink / dvd decrypter -- if u can find on net pop me a mail and i will send link for u by the way nero has been rated no 1 software in world i use it daily enev the features to convert LP to cd and i tell u nothing else is better on the market at the moment -- later reply

hi am new to this but i am sorry to mention u all that ITS VERY VERY EASY to burn a >AVI FILE ONTO a DVD. with nero 6 ultra edition u just need to write it on to the dvd as a data dvd, thats all.u call select the writing speed & make it a multisession disc there only (but i wouldn’t suggest u to make it a multisession dvd as the later additions may not b readable on os prior to win XP , so u try to burn arnd 4400MB in 1 go).

also it is just BULLSHIT to convert the file into mpg, etc. that way the quality deteriorates drastically & the file size increases v much.
by just BURNING IT AS A DATA DVD U CAN FIT IN AS MANY AS 6 MOVIES in onwe DVD (700MB of each avi file)

hope that this will help u all v much

i would like any suggestions or modifications to this if anybody can do so.
thank u all.

bye reply

also u can put subtitles in ur avi files , which gives u a GREAT experience as if u r watching a real DVD . just reply to this post if u guyz wanna no it.

bye & take care reply

Hi,

Can someone please offer up some of their expertise before I jump in the nearest river!!!!

I have downloaded a movie, and it came in 3 parts. (It was a torrent file)

After reading through loads of the above posts, I got VSO Divx to DVD and coverted the 3 parts. It took some time but they converted ok.(The divx to dvd is only a trial version, do I need to have the full version?)

Now I have the 3 files, and when I check the “properties” tab for them, their format is just “Movie Clip”.

I have tried to burn onto dvd using Nero, Dvd Shrink, Record Now Max, Clone Dvd and none of them would recognise the file.

I’ve spent so much time on this I’m ready to tear my hair out....If anyone can explain how to burn it on to dvd, they will have my eternal thanks!!!!!

Cheers in advance reply

I am also trying to burn avi torrent files that I’ve downloaded to a dvd. What programs can I use on a mac (using OS X)? I have spent a good bit of time searching on the web for the answer but (like everything else) instuction is mostly directed toward pc users. I do have a pc but it is somewhat crappy and I’d like to use my mac if I could (plus that’s where I downloaded the torrent files to).
thanks. reply

Hi, read all the of the posts with interest and followed some instructions like using WinAvi to convert AVI file to DVD format & burned using nero and worked fine however I got an annoying screen message that requests I register with them for $29.

Now I appreciate that the user name & code provided may no longer be valid etc but my question is what other programs out there will do the same without any costs involved or displaying annoying messages on the screen – for example will the free version of DVD Santa? As from what I can see no one has given a definite answer to this, also on page of this topic someone mentioned that they just used Nero to do this? But no one has challenged this comment and I have just been told by 2 separate guys in my work that they also just use Nero to convert/burn.

I know other’s have posted longwinded explanation and guidelines but c’mon there must surely be s quick & easy way round this, or can some one supply a new crack for the Winavi program I have…. reply

how do u burn avi files to divx to play in divx player, my dvd player has divx files player facility but i am not able to burn them properly, i get data error, do i need to change avi files to divx, then how? reply

Feedback

My stand-alone DVD player supports DivX and plays any avi files properly. DivX’s are avi’s.

I have Nero 6 Ultra with Vision Express + mpeg encoding plug-in pack, and to make 'real' DVD’s all I do is select the 'Make DVD' option, drag the avi’s/divx’s etc into the window and click 'burn'. It’s as simple as that. reply
