Does anyone know where I can find the YV12 codec?
It’s strange, when I play the file, (Santa Clause 2) in WMP, it says there’s an error but still plays the file fine. Why is that?
If anyone can help that would be great. If not...
The file still plays fine right?
Thanks,
Hesperaux
i have the exact same problem with Daddy Day Care and it works fine also, good ole Windows eh?

ATI makes a codec called the YUV12. I haven’t really experimented with it but I think my USB tv-tuner installed it.
Randomly found this at www.fourcc.org
YV12
This is the format of choice for many software MPEG codecs. It comprises an NxM Y plane followed by (N/2)x(M/2) V and U planes.
Horizontal Vertical
Y Sample Period 1 1
V Sample Period 2 2
U Sample Period 2 2
Positive biHeight implies top-down image (top line first)
ATI has a codec supporting this format that you can download from http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/misc/ATIVCRX.html
divx 5 and xvid both support yv12. xvid is noticeably faster at decoding it though.

divx link: http://www.divx.com
P.S: I’ve tried the ATI package, but I could never get it to work under windows 2000 or xp. it works fine under windows 98 though. Anyone else had that problem?

I revisited ATI’s package and it turns out its yuv12 decoder is only 16-bit. Therefore it won’t work under Windows NT, 2000, or XP.
Use Helix YUV Codecs v1.2 [http://www.lillevold.com/files/yuvcodecs-1.2.exe]
You can find the yv12 codec here :
