xvid codec for quicktime/mac

Trying to play an avi file in quicktime. After searching high and low for the xvid codec for quicktime i’ve had no luck. So if anyone could help me i’d be very grateful!

[Apple Mac user.] I am looking around myself, today, and can’t find any free ways to play AVI files yet. Seems I need a DivX component on a Mac.
I found a large free legal site full of songs of one of my favourite bands growing up, so I will be doing what I can to make this work so I can see more videos.

I can play AVI files on my mac with quicktime I have OX 10 But also try VLC (find it on version tracker)

I am running 10.3.9, QT7.
I was having problems playing xVid avi files from a Sony clone digital video cam.

I found this option:

As noted, get Divx5 from here:

http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/

then go back to the first link & choose the XVid delegate for your MacOS...

It freakin' works! I am pretty pessimistic about computer anything, but this time it worked...good luck
