Windows movie maker won't let me import clips. And Vegas won't let me upload videos to youtube.

I have been making videos for around a year now.
My method was to make videos in Sony vegas, render them as AVI’S and then send them to Windows Movie maker to make them a WMV file.
I then uploaded the file to youtube and this way worked with all my videos.

When I recently finished my newest project, I tried to drag the clip into windows movie maker, and it said that I do not have the right codec installed. This was confusing because It always worked before.

So I went on the internet, and checked the posts people made before. But it didn’t appear that anybody has had the same problem. I tried downloading all the codec packs, but it still didn’t work.

Plus with my Vegas problem, it seems that if i I upload to youtube with an avi format, it takes hours. I even left it overnight and it still was loading.

I’m really pulling my hair out with this one, so help would be greatly appreciated.

i uploaded pictures and videos from my new kodac camera,. I was over at a friends and we took videos, i was trying to upload my new videos onto movie maker but it will not allow me to !, when i click on the folder when im am trying to inport new things into movie maker my videos arent there
how can i upload my videos on movie maker, ?

It uploads to youtube.

Creates .wmv for back-up.

I already found a solution in our problem!!. *FIRST of all download DivX/Xvid Codec. *THEN download FLV to Video Converter Pro 2. YOU KNOW IT WORKED VERY WELL

I had a problem similar to that but when i import it, It exits out of Windows movie Maker.I tried restarting my pc,But that didn’t work either.

I tried to import .mpg to movie maker but it doesent let me, it says
“The file C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\basscover.MPG cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again."

the same thing happened to me..i just went to system restore which in the control panel, then go to Performance and Maintenance, then up in the top left corner it should say “system restore” click that and go to “restore to an earlier time” then a little calender should come up..and just click on the day before the problems started and then it should automatically restart ur computer and then wen u turn it back on it should be good as new hope this helps

Ok, I have been having a problem... I was making videos with my moms camera cause it has mp3 but she wont let me and more and my camera has Mp4 =[. i used to have a problem like that too but now the problem is when i start windows movie maker it lets me drag the clips to the time line but now it wont let me drag the audio in it what should it do please help


aparently it only lets me drag a clip or song once but the thing is that when i add to the time line it doesnt let me put the clips in order and its really frustraiting plese help!

I have a problem like this. When I upload audio and videos from my phone and camera they usually go with QuickTime and when I switch it to make it go with Windows Moviemaker it tells me that it doesn’t have the right codec and that I should install it. I’ve tried doing it with other things as well, but it still seems not to work. Which codec downloader should I use to fix this problem?
