WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER WON'T PLAY AVI FILES ANYMORE!

it used to play avi files before.. but now it just won’t work. it just closes the program and the window says “send error report or don’t send." why is this happening??? :| do i need a video codec or something?

i have the same problem! i don’t get it either. it just says windows media player has encountered an error and needs to close.. blablabal.

I answered this one for someone else but here we go again. Microsoft critical update for WMP is the problem - they’ve screwed up again.
You will either have to do a system restore to a previous date (before the update) or go to add/remove programs, check the box at the top (show updates) and remove the WMP update.

silrave you may have a codec problem.
