Windows Media Player Codec problem

Hey i try to play a DVD on my Computer so i put the movie in my DVD player and then i try and watch it in Windows media player but i always get this error.
Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. Open Display in Control Panel, and then lower your screen resolution and color quality settings. To view the DVD Troubleshooter, click More Information.
can some one help please i need help thanks.
