WHEN I PLAY A FILE DOWNLOADED BY TORRENT IT SHOWS CODEC ERROR USE WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER

WHAT SHOULD I DO?PLEASE HELP reply

play it with vlc media player
http://www.videolan.org

if you absolutely want to play it in windows media player, install ffdshow-tryouts (but that doesn’t work 100% of the time. neither does videolan, but it’s less likely to fail) reply

You can download VLC player which will (probably) play ANY popular video format you would think of.

Additionally, you can download ACE Stream and watch videos directly from .torrent files (from TPB or similar sites) without waiting to download them directly to your computer.

None of these people know what they’re talking about. It has nothing to do with codecs. If you torrent a video that then gives a message that you have to use Windows Media Player (esp. when the extension is not WMV), it wants to run code, not play the video. Delete it. There are a lot of these fake torrents out there, esp. for popular movies. reply
