i have the same issue i know which format my divx mpeg4 dvd player plays it is " in a avi container there must be divx with mp2 audio and if xvid mp3 audio it also plays mpeg4 and mpeg2 it will never pay avchd or avc or aac files etc in avi container and the best settings are standard xvid avi files that u download and also keep in mind the resolution should not be greater than 480i and file size that best plays on standalone dvd player is 700MB

hello,,i am a software engineer,,so i have a knowledge about this things.first what u need to do is to format your usb and put the songs or anything in the format divx.then format your usb again and then u need to put the same things that u had put bfore formatting,it will definitel play if u follow this methods!its only the conversion of some basic problems that binary numbers on circuit or chip doesnt read ok..enjoy!!!! reply

why ? in this modern times ,do they make things so complicated?
Just to change from tv to video player : press “input’button, change to av2,then press usb,.....all this on 2 diffrent remotes......too complicated !If one of the kids ,accidently pushes a button ,you can start finding out what solves the problem ......
Is it so difficult to use standard settings for formats etc?
Why can a 1500 $dvd- system NOT play some dvd’s that a 30$ dvd player can play?As long as they keep things complicated ,i wont spend a peeny on them any more. reply

Pavel, I apulapd your well thought out and discussed thoughts on this subject but since many of us use the free downloadable audiobooks from the library, (overdrive) which are not rockbox compatable that leaves us with discussing the current retail selection. My CREATIVE Zen V Plus recently died (second to do so in 2 years) and I need a replacement that does not simply resume as Apple Ipod does. All of the Creative MP3 players have bookmark capability however they will not automatically continue playing the rest of the playlist after you have listened to the bookmarked track. I am looking for suggestions. reply

Is there a codec that really can play avi on DVD player? I didn’t know it before, I always burn avi files to DVD Mac as the only way to play my avi files on my DVD player. And I would like to try this codec too. reply

Thank you Vikram.

Your’s was the clearest answer to a sensible question about codecs asked by a self-proclaimed noob.

clear communication, As Well As IT skills, are prerequesites of intelligence.

ps if you have ever find the time could you write similar instuctions for converting using VLC player (if this is possible) as most people already have this installed.

but i will definitely download 'Super Video Converter' for now.

thanks again bro :) reply
