"use windows media player"

I downloaded movies from bittorent but when i play the file it says from the screen “use windows media player” its a 700mb file
pls help, i solved this problem before there is a software that will remove the garbage at the beginning of the file just like a converter, but its long time ago i can’t remember the name of the software, i hope its still out there
