Mplayer can play RMVB files natively (although most(all?) of the GUIs available don’t work with RMVB files. I have no idea why the files will work if you open them directly in mplayer but won’t work when you use a GUI (even when you’re certain that that GUI is using the exact same installation of mplayer).

As far as converting, use SUPER from erightsoft. It can convert RMVB to any format you want.
*Note: The first time you run SUPER, you’ll want to right click it and go to output file settings & choose where to save your files before you try converting anything.

I have the same problem with rmvb, can’t burn with Nero. The link from Rod is in Portuguese and don’t work anymore, we have to look for another source.

The easiest way that I have found to do conversion to IPOD is this:

Take RMVB file and use Winavi to convert it to a AVI

Use AVSVideoConverter to convert from an AVI to MP4.

That’s how I do all of mine grin

Hope it helps.

The shareware leaves a water mark so you might have to torrent/purchase it.

I do NOT condone torrents, but I know they are out there.

As far as burning RMVB to DVD (for DVD playback)

Just get WInavi. Convert it to DVD and use the built in DVD burning software. Easy as 1.........2........3....

Once again, the shareware is limited... Purchase or torrent it.
