real player needs div3 decompressor.

ok, i know i’m an idiot whe it comes to this but i can’t see the video on lots of the movies that i download. some avi files will play fine, but others will only play the sound. when i play them in real player it needs a div3 decompressor. on windows it just doesn’t play. i don’t know what i’m doing....somebody help me please.
