HI, Day before yesterday opened an AVI, and got a DIVX update notice. After it completed the DivX 7.3 install when I open an AVI in WMP11 I get audio and a black screen. AVI (Xvid, Divx) will open correctly in Divx player 7.3 and Nero 9 player.

Also, it takes forever to open now. Pre update it just opened an .AVI and went with it. Now it hangs for 20 secends then starts the audio with black screen.

The Nero9 of course grabbed any and all associations and generaly has been more trouble than it is worth.

File is fake it wont play on any player in the world.

i have the same problem...like me ... i think u too ..
downloaded this movie avi file from utorrent ...
and then I open in Real Player ,,, Media Player ( Kaza lite Codec ) ,,, VLC Player ,,,
But every time a clip(about 20 seconds) was played having graphical animation and text written in it (as a part of that video clip)
“Codec error: Use windows media player”
then
“Aborting Video, Redirecting to Microsoft Codec Download Page”
When i open this in Windows Media Player same clip played and a internet browser page automatically opened having a link to Download a file of new VLC player .. but infact that is an spyware,adware,malware file...

So the video file downloaded by the utorrent wasnt an movie file ... i have tried to download a new different movie file from utorrent .. but that has also same problem .. So i think this is problem with utorrent .. or dont know .. please help this out ...

The message you receive is from a group of internet fraudsters who plant phony movie downloads on various bit torrent sites then try to force you to download the codec program from them in order to capture your email address for fraudulent purposes.

We are in the process of tracking them and then will use our worldwide peer group to shred their servers. We are alos tracking their location and will be reporting it to the FBI and local commercial crime authorities.

If you would like to assist in wiping them off the internet, go to their site and have you and all your peers bombard them with phony service requests and emails. People like them need to be eliminated for good. They are frauds.

This is a FAKE message for you to direct/re-direct you to another site, usually commercial or advertisement to ask you for “money”, subscription, etc., OR trying to get some INFO from you, i.e. mobil phone number, credit card, etc.
My advise is DO NOT continue on. Just DELETE.

Get their address and BLACK LIST THEM, may be on the moviecodec.com ? So everyone can see and avoid them.
DO NOT use them again.

It’s a fake file, tried Vuze, utorrent, bittorrent and some other torrent software and downloaded the same file, all gave the same error. 'kaseymon' is exactly correct about it. It is the same as he/she told it. Save yourselves from further frustration tryin to run the movie. DELETE IT!. And yeah use a player of your choice other than WMP for a first preview of downloaded movie everytime... to save yourself from spyware, adware, viruses and hacking stuff like that...

I downloaded a movie through bitcomet. But when I opened that clip with windows media player, it said there is a problem with some codec. after it, a automatically window opened tellin me that i need to download a codec or something. But i couldn’t download that. Can anyone tell me about that?
