MPEG-4 V3 codec

I couldn’t play a avi file . . .so I ran it thru Video inspector and it stated that I didn’t have a MPEG-4 V3 codec

Sorry I needed to also state I downloaded the codec from Microsoft but it still didn’t play. I got the error code C00D1199

i want codec for mediaplayer to play an (mpeg)file
