movie maker codec?

my clips that i’ve already imported won’t play!i haven’t tried to import more footage, becuase i’m not sure if it’ll mess with my files or whatever. the i get only sound, with a black screen.i have the FF shadpw audio Codec, and i’m using Windows Movie maker. help, someone? i love making videos for Veoh and youtube and i’d hate to give it up over some glitch.

please i would really love some help with this!!!!

and report to us what it says about the ORIGINAL files you’re trying to import into Movie Maker?

We’ve just bought a Disgo Video Plus which records .avi files and wouldn’t work with Windows Movie Maker because it said it didn’t have the correct codec. Ticking the download codecs autmatically box in the options window didn’t help, however, after reading lots of posts and the windows help files I found I needed to download the Xvid codex.

I found the Xvid codec at wmplugins.com as suggested by microsoft and downloaded it from:

http://www.digital-digest.com/software/download.php?sid=1052&ssid=0&did=1

Now it all seems to work fine.

I hope this post helps save people having to do the two hours research it took me to find this out.
