every time i try to drag a file on to Windows Movie Maker this pops up....

The file C:ART 11\100_2115.MOV cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

what do i doo????

AS I SAID:
“I have found a way. Go to your windows start menu then to programs, accesories, system tools, and then click on “system restore”. After this just choose the date before this error had occured.

Note: If you had installed any new programs after this error you will loose them but not the information you saved on them. Example: I had lost my iTunes program but when I reinstalled I still had all my songs on the program. So dont worry about loosing any vital information."

Instead of killing youself trying to find codec, do this.....It worked very well for me....
NOw I hope I dont see anymore “But still no answer”....I have one!!! Use it!!!

It’s also an inconvenient solution. There’s a risk restoring will actually erase your stuff. You’re lucky you got yours back, that doesn’t work for all of us. You have one of the first comments, everyone sees it, but no one’s willing to risk it, so we’re asking for a more surefire solution that won’t tamper with our hard drives. So chill out and let us ask our questions, you’re not always right, kid.

The file C:\David\Home\cheering.zip cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again. i get this messege when trying to out a .ZIP file on.

Any ideas how to help sad

I had a problem importing an AVI into WMM. After reading many pages without success was told to try downloading DivX7 by a friend from http://www.divx.com/en/products/software/windows/divx ... I can now import AVI into WMM. Not sure if this fix has been mentioned before but it worked for me.
