The file C:\Documents and Settings\BUENTIPO FAMILY\Desktop\check up\M2U00753.MPG cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

this is the message that pops up when I try to import a video to my Movie Maker . uhhh . help me ! reply

Your file is MPEG-2, but it’s probably in the transport stream format.

ANSWER

1. Go to
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_lite_codec_pack.htm
and download the K-Lite Codec Pack FULL.

2. Run and Install the K-Lite Codec Pack. Make sure you do not un-check anything.

3. Open up Windows Movie Maker, go to Tools > Options... > Compatibility.

4. Check “ffdshow Video Decoder."

5. Press OK.

6. Now you can import video .avi files! reply
