I’m trying to play a video and says it requires the “cook” codec when I try to play it with windows media player. the file type says it is a windows media player type. If anyone can help me with this issue it would be greatly appreiated.

As far as I’m concern cook, codename Gecko, is one of the codecs used by Real Audio. Try installing either Real Player or Real Alternative and see if it helps.
