Indeo V5 codec

I am trying to find the Indeo V5 codec for WinXP. Since it was installed free on preXP Windows OSs, I would rather not have to pay Ligos for it. I found V5.11 at www.ipclan.us but it appears to be incomplete (WinXP does not recognize the exe as valid). I have V5.05 on a Win2K system but have no idea how to get WinXP to recognize the dll as an installed codec. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

You can download the Indeo (aka Intel) V5 codec for FREE from the following location
http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df/download.asp?url=/2846/eng/codinstl.exe&ProductID=355
Enjoy.

sos,
I like so many others, am having a problem with my logitech quickcam 4000 Pro. Even when i install the latest version of the quickcam software, i get the HVideoS error.
I’ve tried re-installing 7.21 and applying the patch. That still didn’t work. After that, I downloaded the package you recommend from Intel’s site. Still no effect.
I am running Windows XP Professional. I’ve reinstalled video AND audio drivers, but it still won’t work.
One note: when i initially installed the cam about 9 months ago, it worked fine. But so much has changed on my system.
An important question: Is the version of the Indeo Codec you list 5.2? or is it 5.0 or 5.1.
It seems 5.2 is necessary for XP, although i note most people here found your recommended file worked. I’m being sent from Logitech to Dell, etc but nothing they recommend works.
Any suggestions/ideas?
Thanks much.

To SOS,
You are THE MAN.
I spent most of the night trying to get the indeo codec for a presentation on a new laptop, and found your discussion on Google. The download worked like a charm, and now I can go to sleep. Thanks.
PS - any idea why MS stopped including the codec? just another attempt to control everything?
