The required codec was not downloaded automatically because the Download codecs automatically check box is not selected in the Options dialog box.

I am having the same problems with Wondows Movie Maker. I can import an .avi file, but only the audio comes out. I have the download codecs automatically box checked, still nothing. Also, if I am to download the codecs, where, specifically, do I download them to in order to ensure they will be where Wondows Movie Maker needs them to be?

Regan and I are having the same trouble. Please do not assume that I know where codecs need to be so that the programs requiring them can find them. I need step-by-step instructions. All I want to do is resume making videos for YouTube. One of you smart people needs to help me, please.
