Okay, so I used Gspot to check which codec I needed to import a movie and it told me that I had the codec already... plus, the movie will play in other applications, but I’m still getting the same message from Movie Maker saying that I don’t have the codec. This is only happening with movie-length files- music videos will import fine- but it’s happening with ALL of my movie-length files, which really sucks.

Does anyone know what’s happening and how I can fix it? I tried restarting both the program and the computer, by the way, so I know it can’t be that. Please do not reply with links to download codecs! I already have the codec, downloading it is not the problem. I just need to get WMM to recognize it when importing movie-length files.

You may try to convert the video to another video format, like wmv, sometimes it works.
