Hi - I’ve got an avi which won’t play. Winamp doesn’t do anything and Windows Media Player says “The specified module can not be found”. It might be that it’s simply corrupted, but it might be that I just don’t have the right codec. How would I find out what codec or “module” it needs?

Cheers

Go to this site: http://www.free-codecs.com/ Open your avi file with GSpot or Avicodecs and both are video analyzers to find out what video and audio codecs you may need to install.Avicodes has a " web” key to link you to the site . A basic collection of codecs : All in One, DivX, Xvid, XP Codecs and for audio AC 3 filter is a must.Stay away from mega packs too big for what you need. Also is good to have players like Media Classic,VLC and BSplayer all use their own codecs. Good Luck.
