How to convert MPEG1 into a DVD format without changing appearance

Hello everyone,

I have a rather specific problem with authoring a DVD from MPEG-1 files. I have shot some “footage” with the video function of my small digital camera which takes videos in “MPEG1 Muxed, 320 x 240” format. The work I’m doing is emphasizing the noisiness and lossiness of such a lo-fi camera. The issue that I’m having is that editing and authoring software want to change this file type into MPEG-2, which tends to wipe out a lot of the noise and pixelation that my camera does (which is basically the meat of the whole project). Here’s a clip of the original MPEG1 file:

I know its quite subtle, but all those little blue and red pixels are what I don’t want to lose, and conversion to MPEG2 seems to flatten this to black. Any suggestions on how not to lose my pixels when I author the DVD??

Well, I can’t get any image from your MPEG-1 sample.

But If you use Ulead Media Studio, you can use CBR (not VBR)

Video DATA Rate of 4500kbps or even up to 6000 kbps

This will surely retain the original video. Also, Ulead has a huge list of built-in video filters for you too.
