help with codecs and gspot please.

I keep getting the message “one of more codecs are missing” when I try to play a file. I’ve downloaded g-spot, but I’m having a tough time catching onto it. If anyone could give me a little help with how to use it I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks!!!!
