VirtualDub 1.8.8 worked fine for me up until now. I now get this message even trying to open videos I made with VirtualDub. I never had ffdshow when all went smoothly so I don’t know what’s happened during the last month. I think updating Firefox is the only software adjustment I’ve made.
i get the same message.
i’ve downloaded nic’s xvid codec and installed it.
but it still gives me the same message.
the video is converted from wmv to avi
So I got the same msg:
“Couldn’t locate decompressor for format `XVID` (unknown)
VirtualDub requires a videro for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable."
I have no clue what I’m doing, I downloaded all of these: Xvid, virtualdub, Divx, ConvertXtoDVD, Winrar, and all I wanted to originally do is put a movie back together that I downloaded offline. It’s an AVI movie, and was split up into two separate cd’s. As you can tell I am lost... Any help?
Have the same issue on a fresh install of Windows 7 x64. Tried the codecs listed for the x64 but no luck. Removed them and installed cccp from here http://www.cccp-project.net/ and it solved the problem.
i get the error when i put in a avi video that i downloaded with youtube downloader why?
all the other avi movies i put in that i download don’t
i think the initial link doesn’t work again. it downloads it, but gives an error message when finishing download. “cannot be saved because the source file could not be read"
merci beaucoup j’avais exactement le même message d’erreur et en téléchargeant et en installant les codec xvid le problème est résolu.
merci
Argh! I’m having issues!
So, I’m running XP service pack 3, 32-bit, and I can’t get VirtualDub to open my AVI’s for the life of me.
I’m getting the same message everyone else is, but I haven’t gotten a solution yet.
I’ve downloaded and installed both xvid, and ffdshow, to no avail. Any thoughts?
