help needed have a film in the name of starsky.and.hutch.dvdscr.xvid-dvl , but cannot open it , nor can I change file name .. can anyone help me out please thanks

xvid in the filename likely means xvid codec
get it at koepi.org
if this fails somehow feed the file into gspot, videotoolbox, or avicodec and paste what it spits out

I think you’re dealing with a RAR file. get 7zip or powerarchiver or winrar to unRAR it first. Then make sure you have the divx codec. it plays xvid too. Good luck.

did u ever get that movie to work? cause i just DLed Napolean dynomite, and it has a very similar file name dvdscr xvid something like that. if you did get it to work can you email me how, and what programs you had to use becuase I tried opening it in winamp and windows media player, and they both said there was an error, and it couldn’t download an appropriate decompressor then when I searched for a decompressor I couldn’t find one. alright thanks my email is

sorry Trini never got it to work ,gave up on it and rented the film instead sorry cant help ya out ..

download the VLC player. it plays 99% of all divx and xvid movies. you can then burn c.d.'s of the movies using toast. burn as data c.d. under the setting ISO.

did not understand your question.

i use toast on data setting then under advanced settings select ISO9660. draga nd drop your .avi file here.
select a slow burn speed maybe 2X.

What your dealing with is a ".TAR” file. And what you have is a “Scene Released” Movie, anotherwards pirated. “starsky.and.hutch.dvdscr.xvid-dvl”
“dvdscr” = “DVD Screener” A screener is a promotional copy of this movie for the acadamy awards or movie critics.
“xvid” = What the movie is formatted in.
“dvl” = The Team that pirated it.
Download “WinZip” and install it. That will open any compressed file. http://winzip.com

i burn iso cd of the movie i download “xxxxx.DVDSCR.XViD-LLG” and vlc only play the .rar contained on the folder...just the movie’s intro...so what’s up doc
and do you know the difference between dvl & llg

there is kind of bug in that file dont play it it slows down your system,and no player can play that file....

I HAVE THAT SAME FILE AND WILL NOT DELETE!! I ALSO CANNOT CHECK ITS PROPERTIES OR MOVE THE FILE PLEASE HELP. I THINK IT MAY BE SOME SORT OF VIRUS.I DOWNLOADED IT FROM BEARSHARE.

You can try to delete the file in bearehare. Or you can restart your pc, close all active programs and then delete the file. I just restarted explorer.exe, and deleted the file.

I have tried everything to delete The DaVinci Code 2006.DVDSCR.XVID-DVL.avi

It will not go away it says that someone or other program is running the file. Someone that’s new to me. I even tried to quarantine the file. Anyone got any suggestions?
