I cannot get this file to play in either Real or WMP. Keep getting error messages that say not valid or unsupported file type. Any suggestions?

Yes, it says that the file type is unknown and the mime type is unknown with no proposed codec solutions.
reading this post agian i sounds like it maybe a dvd.you could try the following
Programs Needed
Winrar
Isobuster
Instructions:-
Right click on “xpdvd-theman-ntsc-dvdr” file.
Choose “Open with” option from right click menu.
Choose Winrar.
You will see the files appear as an IMG.
Extract the IMG to a folder of your choice.
From here the IMG should auto open with Isobuster if not run Isobuster and open it.
Extract the file again to folder of your choice.
You will see some other files thats been added to the file just delete it .
You should be left with Audio_TS and Video_TS folders.
Use DVD burning software of your choice to add to disk.
or alternatively you could use a dvd player such as powerdvd

or you could try videolan
I’ve tried everything mentioned so far and I still can’t get my video to play. Is anyone else finding the same problem?
Is it possible that it isn’t actually a video that I downloaded?
Same here, nothing works.
Same thing happened to me .. I D/L’d a few movies like that ...still can’t figure out how to make them work...
any progress on this problem? I have a couple of movies that I can’t get anything to play them?? Just wondering in anyone has figured it out... thanks
um, ntsc is european, try finding a converter cause your programs might only be able to read american. Eh, it just might be stupid enough to work.
DTS.NTSC.DVDR-XPDVD
.... Same problem ...
NTSC is not European, that would be PAL.

NTSC is the analog television system in use in Korea, Japan, United States, Canada and certain other places, mostly in the Americas (see map). It is named for the National Television System(s) Committee, the industry-wide standardization body that created it.
You need a DVD player that can decode DTS. Otherwise all you will hear is hissing. WinDVD7 Platinum has DTS decoding capabilities.
MitchB
does anyone know wot to do, none of that helped.
Alright, I had a similar problem.
I a bunch of compressed files that ended in .00x.
I used hjsplit to rejoin them, and when I did, I ended up with a xpdvd file.
As it turned out, I just used the wrong decompression tool. Then I used winrar, and voila!
Unpack with Winrar mount with alcohol and burn
Perfect
