Downloading Codec Error

hi...
i too have the same problem....the video is not playing for avi files and div files in my windows media player. it says “error downloading codec”....i have tried with other players but the result is the same ..no video...

could anyone suggest me the solution for this problem???

I had same problem. Neither Windows mediaplayer nor Realplaer would play back video. Downloading and installing the xvid codec sorted out the problem.

omg! mine was saying the same thing and i was mad, but then i typed in those words and found this page and now that ive downloaded it, i can see it!! thanks a lot!

When I open the movie eg 01.wmv on windows media player 6 show me the codecs error and says that go to the his realative website to download the codecs to open the movie.

I TRIED EVERYTHING ABOVE AND STILL NOTHING HAS WORKED TO RECTIFY THE “ERROR DOWNLOADING CODEC” MESSAGE. Once I downloaded the Video Inspector program, installation occurred then I received a message “File too large for notepad, choose Wordpad, so I did, then all I saw was coding gunk.....PLS HELP!!!!!!!!!

my windows media player not working properly.. its showing negative image.... but when i play with some other software is working fine. i think only the wmv file is not working... pls some one help to me...

I also had this problem when I tried to open my AVI files in Windows Media Player. I downloaded Video Inspector, browsed to the file that I was trying to open and it told me that I need Xvid Codec. It gave me a link to the download that I needed and I am able to play all of my video’s in Window’s Media Player with sound and picture! Give it go, it takes less than 2 minutes.

hey thanks Tam, I solved my problem too after downloading the ''ffdshow -20041012.exe'' from http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow then install it. i can now watch all videos in windows media player with no more irritating audio codec errors

i have the same problem video codecs error downloading how to solve that problem?

all other videos of mine work and yesterday i put videos from a video camera to my computer.....the ones that i put on computer dont work....it keeps giving me error downloading codecs! icant even put them on windows movie maker 2!
dont know what to do!

Same with me. I downloaded a video and put it in WMM (Windows Movie Maker) and it just plays background sound and stuff. I dont see the actual film. Anyoe help? I will not look here again so email me here!
