Download codec without the bugs ?

I have been trying to download a codec pack which enables me to watch movies in AVI or DivX form. So far every one I have tried to download has contained a trojan, virus or some kind of malware. Is it possible to download such a codec pack without the bugs ? I am beginning to wonder if it is worth it.

Check your download sources, and use antivirus
