codec 45?? messed up my avis need help

hi my comp told me i needed codec 45 to watch my asf files so i downloaded it and well now all my avi files wont play i have sound but no picture so i have deleted the codec that i installed but i still have no picture when i try to play my avi files — — can any one help me out
