Cant play DVDrip.avi file

i can’t play (The LOrd of the rings)show me the codec that matches the DVD

hi there,
i downloaded the sigur ros movie heima on limewire and ive no idea how to “rip” files or 2 b honest what that even means.
Heima.2007.DVDRip.XviD-TNAN
thats the downloaded folders name
and its full of files and ive no idea what to do.
if someone out there who is smarter thn me about this kind of thing can help me out id be so so grateful

i have downloaded dvdrip.avi.001/002/003/004 files... i also have vlc player...but it plays onli 001 file the rest 4 are not being played...!!!!!!

hi i realize you guys get 50 million i cant play this file msgs but i feel i have no where left to turn ive downloaded k lite gom player the thing that searches out the codec you need downloaded 5 different copies of the movie and nothing works on every one the codec finder can recognise the file and all the movie player wont play them eather are they just fake files you get most of the time and the odd one is a good file i dont understand what im going wrong and its so frustrating thanks

Hi anyone still stuck with this problem, basically you just need to download hj split http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/#win32 where you can join the files back together as one. Its annoying when you dont know what to do. Hope that helps. x

download dvdflick and burn it to a dvd disk, thats how you do it !!

Anyone with .001 or .rar or .zip or anything of that nature.

Download 7zip (http://www.7-zip.org/download.html) and tell it to extract it to a folder.

You should get an .avi file if it was a DVDRip.

Now those .avi users,

Most releases are in xvid format which means you’ll need an xvid codec:

Also audio will be in either .mp3 or .ac3 so you’ll need those as well...

Also, if you try to play the file and it tells you to go to a site, it’s a fake. Delete it.

If VLC Player cannot play the file. Than it is not the VLC Player, that you are having a problem with. ITS THE DVDRIP FILE. Try download a new DVDrip file.

kk can anyone tell me what codecs VLC player uses? I can watch films using it but i would like to have the raw codecs for... helpfulness
