Hi,
Recently it occurred that I could play some AVI files I’ve downloaded.
I tried to use Avicodec to see what codec I need – but when I tried to open the file with AVIcoded – the following error message was displayed:
“Opening error ClassFactory could not supply request class for filename.avi’
When I used GSpot the message was
File Type: Unknown
Mine Type: Unknown

Is it a corrupted file or is it a new codec that even AVIcodec and GSpot can not read?

Tx

GSpot’s pretty good at detecting AVI’s if they are AVI’s. You could just have a corrupt file or a fake.
Next step if you’re in doubt would be to look in a hex editor (for example winhex). If it’s really an AVI at the start it should have the strings RIFF AVI.
