The reason behind the video not showing is to do with a lack of video codecs that Windows Media Player and Real Player can utilize.
Usually people use Xvid for the video and Mpeg layer 3 or AC3 (Dolby digital) for audio.
So, here are codecs/filters for the file types.
<a href=“http://www.free-codecs.com/koepi_xvid_download.htm”>Koepi’s XviD Codec 1.2.2</a>
<a href=“http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=5191&s=12”>AC3 Filter 1.63b</a>

I have recently downloaded Prince of Persia: sands of time, but it is in .avi file format. I have tried to play it on windows media center, windows media player, VLC media player, and Xvid. Nothing is working I’m so confused at why my video won’t play. Will some one please help me.
Open up your computer (even if you don’t know how), get a marker (black) and write on your hard drive (even if you don’t have one) “FIXED” and make sure you write in permanent marker (so it doesn’t happen again).
BTW, my gameboy is broke same problem HALP
Just download k-lite codec pack full and when you install it choose lots of stuff (#7) and make sure that all video file types are checked off....that should do the trick....have NEVER had a problem watching ANYTHING EVER....

REALLY??? EVERY AVI I donwload? Regardless of From where? ALL AVI’s have file problems now? I have tried EVERY program I can get my hands on.. FREE and otherwise. I Have GOT to have THE MOST complete library of Software in the US and NOT one ... NOT one of them will get an AVI to play on my Machine at all. WMV plays just fine. My machine is a Dell inspiron about 2 yrs old....
I had the same problem with real player not playing AVI files.
What you all need to do is downloading Avi Codec Pack + 2.3.0 for real player.
go on that site that’s where I got it myself. It worked for me. Good Luck!
