Maybe I’m missing a CODEC in Windows Media Player? I have no idea where to begin finding the solution as to why Windows Media Player will play video but not play the audio from AVI files.
I’m using a Labtec Webcam Pro camera and it records only in the .AVI format.
Why can’t I hear sound when the movie is played?
What do I do now to make it work properly? 
have a pile of dvds but will not play with
windows media player, can get picture but no
sound.
used on previous pc, but this new laptop just
not giving me sound any ideas out there.

Ah you can’t have visualisations AND Lyrics Plugin acvite at the same time. In Media Player go TOOLS Plug-Ins and make sure that Lyrics Plugin is ticked if it’s not, tick it and that should solve the problem
