Edit: This is for WINDOWS VISTA: ULTIMATE
edit again: please dont respond with “Look at the post under this noob” because I have read through about 20 pages of the replies and none have worked. so if you have the simple 1-link answer that you think will work post it again here for the many people who dont want to sift through all those useless replies in the post before this.

Alright, Ive downloaded various codec packs such as klcodec and windows movie maker still will not register the video from any of my fraps files. It shows that they are .avi but they may be divx, but I believe fraps compresses using FPS1 or something of that sort. I use windows VISTA ultimate so there may be a problem there as well dealing with the compatibility of the codecs I have been downloading. Ive read post after post on the topic and have found no solution to my problem, even though it seems to have been fixed for a number of others with the exact same error message. WMM has not worked since I got my computer (which has been windows vista from the start). If there is a converter that can change these files into something for WMM oriented, that would work also.

Again these video clips are from fraps (world of warcraft) and any help is appreciated.

note: the clips work fine in my default player but only the audio is played when I import them to WMM.

How old exactly are your video card drivers?

I’ve read that sometimes upgrading those will fix this annoying problem...

Are you using an ATI or NVidia card?

You can do what i do if u have the time and the precision I have the same problem so i just downloaded camstudio and then after uping the recording quality on camstudio i re record the fraps video while it plays in WMP and then line up the sound clip from fraps...and the vid clip from camstudio then mute the camstudio audio clip and wahlah...thats the only way ive found to do it so far...but my other machine which also ran vista did just fine with fraps being imported to WMM so i dont know why the drivers arnt on this machine.

FRAPS has work fine for import as in the importing to windows movie maker. Except when I go to publish it to my computer it says the files are missing. Can any one help me?
