http://www.codecguide.com is always the first to post new versions.

How can a website that says “This website is not affiliated with the makers of any of the packages and software that is referenced on this website." in the F.A.Q. be “always the first to post new versions”?

http://www.codecpackguide.com/ instead looks much more professional, does not make such statements and has no annoying ads.

Why would you want a codec pack?
It’s better to use VLC-media player (videolan.org). It plays almost everything. And it’s free /Frack

VideoLAN is nice, but it doesn’t play everything like the K-Lite Codec Pack.

Bad idea, bad luck.
Use FFdshow, it is neat clean and c auses no headaches, it also will run overlay with hardware acceleration.

The packs more often than not will cause big problems by displacing stuff you want, but it doesn’t unload the current filters, just adds a whole lot more, and the they fight it out with each other to run.

FFDshow is now stable and reliable. I didn’t go near it for years, but now install it on ALL our customers computers. It will allow en/de-coding off just about ANY file you come across.

The other codecs you find are pretty much all based on the same code, so why load a ton of seperate ones when one app will do it all? And not cause any problems.
JUST BE CERTAIN TO GET THE PROPER VERSION FOR YOUR CPU.

luck,

I have a silly rank

Removed a few posts where the poster would claim this is the official site for xxxxx. Where clearly it is not so.

K-Lite is by far the best. Cheap 10 dollar SB LIve 5.1 card and K-Lite, and I finally have *true* DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1 output from my PC to my HT Receiver! INCREDIBLE! (Make sure you use Media Player Classic - and you won’t be disappointed...)
