Michael again... Guest | I’ll try to explain, daes.
The program does the following:
1. Copy files from camera to computer
2. Delete the non-video files
3. all the videos to .mp2 format (which several editors can open)
4. Convert the file names to use the normal numbering system (thus keeping them in the proper order)
If you have installed everything properly, there should be a shortcut on your desktop called “Copy from Camera” with a little video camera icon on it.
Double click this icon, and follow the prompts.
It should tell you to connect the camera, and prompt you for a name to give to the folder containing the video files.
You can find the videos in the “My Videos” folder. You can find this by browsing to “My Documents” then double clicking on “My Videos”.
Programs which support .mp2 files include:
EditStudio
Ulead VideoStudio
Pinnacle (you may downoad) a patch from the adobe website.
That program that came with the camera (ive forgotten its name).
There are lots more, and I can’t be bothered to list them.
That should be all you need to know. If you have any troubles, just tell me.

Cellboat Guest | I have figured out how to mass change the .mod files to .m2v files. I am using a new machine running XP. It happened so fast I am having difficulty remembering the sequence of events, but I will do my best.
It seemed like I right-clicked on the .mod file, and the computer initially didn’t know what to do with it, but it figured out it was really an mpg-2 or .m2v file. It chose Windows media player as the default player, and boom, I looked on the hard drive and all 13 hours worth of clips were easily playable just like that.
I still am struggling with the sound issue. I tried the ac3 filter solution in connection with Video Explosion, but no luck. I have a copy of Vegas on the way, and they offer a codec that will read the mpg-2 file, but how it handles the sound I’ll not know till I get it installed.
Anyone have any experience with Video Explosion?

Michael again... Guest | Daes, I think I know what’s wrong, and I just need to check something with you:
If you didn’t have my file and you copied videos manually, what is the drive letter of the camera.
My batch is currently configured to allow only a few. If you can tell me the drive letter, I can tell you how to fix it.

Glenn Guest | Michael...
I have tried to download your .mod file converter but cannot find the .zip file on the page that appears after 10 secs. All there is on the upper left side is a .exe Divx pack.
Please clarify.
Your hard work is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

DDM Guest | You don’t need a fancy converter to convert a .mod file. Take the file remove the .mod ext. replace with .mpg. Use Windows Media Encoder and convert file from .mpg to .avi. Then you should be able to use Adobe Premier Pro on the file.

Gawie Guest | Michael, thank you for your time and patience.
It must be hard to try and explain to us if you do not know our level of understanding of computers.
This time I hope that I have successfully downloaded the program at home, it seems that the problem was between Microsoft 2000 and XP. (I work on XP at home).
I am more or less at the same problem as DAES. When trying to download the video files I find the following problem: It only download the photos that are on the memory card of the camera and not the video files that are on the harddrive of the camera. Maybe it is only a setting that I miss or maybe I do something wrong, I do not know and need your assistance again.
I only hope your patience hold. (The definition of patience is: “It is a longer way before anyone cot angry”
Thanks

Rich Guest | I got the JVC hard disk camcorder last week and its anoyed me ever since.
Ive tried the software which came with the camera, this can read the video clips but its a pritty crap editor, its very slow and the quality of the clips isnt good enough.
Why can’t it have a function on it to allow people to stream video onto their PC’s like my old sony did!
So i am going to go out and buy a buy a AV to USB adaptor then hopefully i can stream video straight into my editing software in any format!

Mubashir Guest | I am in pain for a week now as everyone is here, the same problem again about .MOD files, I have new JVC camcorder with 30GB of harddisk space, Copied all the files from Camcorder to my desktop Harddrive, able to burn movie but not getting any sound and which is because of .MOD files, I have Cyberlink power direct which came with my External DVD burner, Can Anyone tell me how to convert .MOD to MPEG/.AVi, which one is better .AVI/.MPEG, I have NERO 6 DVD burning software if anybody aware of it so please tell me if it will work with it or do I have to buy another software? I have bought Pinnacle Studio ver 10 but if nero will be compatible I will just return pinnacle while I have spend already $200 for this stupid DVD burn.

Michael again... Guest | Gawie, you have alerted me to a problem with my program... thanks.
I know what the problem is, and I’m fixing it now. If I don’t have it fixed for a while, in the mean time, you may have to remove the SD Card while copying.
Daes - hold on! I’m almost there with your problem - it has a similar fix to Gawie’s.
I may have the fix up in a matter of hours, but it may take me a day. Who knows?

Michael again... Guest | Update1 is now avaliable. This will probably solve your problem, Daes.

Gawie Guest | Michael, it’s me (Gawie) again.
I have downloaded the file and followed your instructions. I have done exactly what you suggested and copy it into the “C:\Batch Files” and overwrite the previous file.
Now there is a new problem, but at lease there is some progress:
When going thru the steps of downloading the video files from the camera, this time I got one step further. After typing in the file name as instructed and pressing the enter button, for almost one second nothing happened and then the next instructions appear:
“Copy Complete.
Press any key when ready...”
Every thing disappear after that, so I open the directory and find the new file with the name as it was typed (as instructed), in “My Video” file under “My documents”.
At first I was very pleased with myself, but then the shock: THE FILE IS EMPTY
Is there something that I have missed?
Michael I do not want to put to much pressure on you and I know this is taking a lot of your time, but you are my only hope after 6 months trying every avenue that I can find in South-Africa.
Again, Thank you

Michael... Guest | Hmmm... Gawie, I know what is happening (it just isn’t copying the files) but I don’t know why.
However, I do have one possible theory, that due to you having a camera with a different model number than mine, the program is unable to find the video files.
If you can tell me the directory within the camera where the videos are stored, I can fix the file for you.
(Mine is G:\SD_VIDEO\PRG001\)
Thanks for the feedback,

Gawie Guest | Michael, thank you for responding again, so soon.
When connecting the camera with the USB cable to the USB port, I find the files of the camera on: E:\SD_Video\PRG001 or PRG002 up to PRG005
I hope that can help you.
For clarity and to make sure I have installed your program correctly, I want to make sure that the following are supposed to be in the “Batch Files”:
There are only 2 programs (Or this is how I understand it), “CameraCopyWorking.bat” (4K and “Copy from Camera.bat” (2K
Hope this can also help you and are supposed to be there.
Greetings

Markell Guest | Thank you Geo so much for your help, if I didn’t read your post I wouldn’t know how to convert the format from .mod to .mpeg, you rock like a stone quarry. Or however you spell that.

WillH Guest | I have been using Adobe Premier Elements 2.0 to edit the .MOD files with no obvious problems. However, I’m curious about the “3D noise reduction." Look at this link... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000A13YFM/104-1281956-8656730?v=glance&n=502394. Has ANYONE been able to get video quality like the frame on the right? Everything I have recorded looks like the frame on the left, and I am wandering if the Cyberlink software uses the .MOI file to improve the picture quality. My camera came with some propaganda recorded as a Windows media file. That looks MUCH better than what I’ve been recording. Is this false advertising or am I doing something very wrong?
