Michael Berman - Problem Solved Guest | I really cant be bothered to write much, cos I just wrote it once then it told me the post didn’t work but I’ll say this:
I HAVE ALL YOUR PROBLEMS SOLVED!!!!
go to [http://hyperupload.com/download/01b93b5375_8uo267o4a6eu49ax/Copy_From_Hard_Disk_Camcorder.zip] and click the download link that appears up the top left after 10 seconds.
Then unzip it and read the readme.
Won’t work on Macs, by the way.
It is a program I wrote to copy videos from a JVC hard disk camcorder, convert the names from hexadecimal (uses 1-9 and A-F, so 1A = 27) to decimal (normal numbers), delete the .MOI and .PGI Files, and CONVERT THE VIDEOS TO MP2!
Just go to the link and download it!
hasn’t been tested on anything other than Win XP, but It should work.
Any problems? email me at ifeelspecial@gmail.com.

Entree Rep: 0 Joined: 08 May 2006 Posts: 2 OFFLINE | OMG you are the man. It worked great for me.
1 question though, is this trial software? If it is, that is ok, I don’t mind paying for a software title that will work.
Thanks again

Michael again... Guest | Nope, not trial, full version.
I’ve just been gradually adding to it over about a month, and eventually it now does everything I need, so I figured I’d help anyone else with the same camcorder.
I’m quite honestly JVC couldn’t be bothered to hire someone like me to write such a simple program for them... meh.
This is the first program I’ve ever made, so it’s good that people like it! :-)

LongitudeandLatitude Guest | This thread was depressingly helpful. I have a 30 gig JVC GZ-somethingorother and have had so much trouble with the ridiculous file extension. I’m depressed to hear that the only way for me to convert is by using Cyberlink PowerDirector — I loathe the program as an editing program, mainly because the Audio Mixer cannot be used clip by clip, but encompasses the whole timeline. Frustrating. Also, “producing” each clip takes so much time... is there anyway to “mass-produce” the entire folder of clips, fresh off the camera’s hard drive, without mashing them together on one timeline?
Unfortunately, I can’t download anything off the Internet to use in this case; the computer in question (Windows XP) does not have an Internet connection (and never will.)

Gert Deridder Guest | Michael,
I tried to install your programme, but after clicking on setup.bat an !empty! notepad opens and I don’t know what to do.
I tried to fill in:
set CopySpeed=“200”
set OrigCameraDrive=“H”
set CopyFolder=
but it won’t work.
I don’t know anything about computers, so could you help me?
Thanks!

Michael again... Guest | If you tell me the name of every file that you have from me, I may be able to help.
Try downloading and doing it again.
Or try just closing notepad when it opens and see if it works.
What operating system do you use (e.g. Windows XP, NT, 2000, 98, etc...)
I can try to help and I should be in contect every 24 hours to answer questions.

Michael again... Guest | I just realised I can provide manual instructions to people for whom it doesn’t work, just do all of this:
Double click tcmd.exe and install TakeCommand into the default directory. Uncheck the box that asks “Associate .BAT and .CMD files with TakeCommand?".
Go to the directory C:\Program Files\JPSoft\TCMD7 and delete tcmd.exe.
Copy tcmdpatch.exe from the directory where the downloaded stuff is into the aforementioned TCMD7 one.
Rename it, and remove the word “patch” from its name.
Make a new directory “C:\Batch Files”
Copy the “CameraCopyWorking.bat” and “Copy from Camera.bat” into this directory.
Copy “Copy from Camera.lnk” to your desktop.
Note: all of these instructions must be followed exactly for it to work.
All of that SHOULD WORK! It’s a bit harder than just double-clicking “Setup”, but it’s worth it in the end!

Dirtbag Guest | well i got VirtualDub-MPEG
Build 24417 (1.6.14, stable): [May 3, 2006]
and the ACM Plugin and it imports the .MODS directly and lets you convert to DIVX or some other formats...
I using DivX so it great because i can use the 6.2 codec as once i installed that it knocked the DIVX option out of CYBERLINK...
Anyways you can BATCH convert the Files which people were asking about.. makes it a hell of a lot easier..
