How to convert .MOD file into anything acceptable by Adobe Premier ?

Then I figured out how to change the file extension using window. I have since made movies using Ulead VideoStudio 9. No problem with picture or sound. Did you save your original files from the sd card using the Panasonic software, Media Stage, or did you save them using window files? I originally saved using Media Stage and found I had to copy them to a windows folder and then change the extension.

I bought an hdd 20giig harddrive cam at over 400 pounds stirling.. all i wanna do is record my kids mucking about and watch and hear them !!!! I run ulead vid 9, and yes, you can hear and see the files, but first you have to hook up the cam, explore then copy paste all the files to your pc, then manually change each files extension to .mpg or .mpeg or .m2v . You can then find them via ulead and insert into the time line and create your vid no probs for output later.... BUT what are jvc doing releasing this stooooopid file extension.... not every body edits their vids, many jus wanna view via real player or windows media centre but u cant ???? JVC — - SORT YOUR ACT OUT COZ THAT CAM RANGE IS SHITE !!

frustrated sid Guest thx gato for your response. I saved most files by pulling the .mod files off the card onto the computer. I didn’t save the .moi or other files. Is that a problem. I tried to burn with Cyberlink power director and I get a video with no sound. I’m looking for ulead right now.

I suggest up keep those with the corresponding .mod file. Originaly I saved the files using Media Stage. When I discovered the problem with the .mod issue, I moved the files via point and drag to the windows folder. That also included the .moi file. I don’t know if that makes any difference, but I have sound and video with Cyberlink. Ulead has more versatility and more bells and whistles. You can also edit a clip in Cyberlink and use some of there editing features like TV Wall, save as mpg file and then incorporate it in Ulead.

E-Bam Guest I’m running Premiere Pro 1.5. I still get no audio when I rename to “m2v”. Everything I’ve tried doesn’t get me audio. And for speed and efficiency sake, I refuse to encode from crappy ass Cyberlink software and then import into a project and have to render for preview again. I may return this JVC P.O.S. camera and get a Sony HD. Anyone have a better idea?

E-Bam Guest I FIGURED IT OUT!!!! IF YOU CAN’T HEAR AUDIO WITH AN MOD FILE IN AN EDITING SUITE, THEN YOU MUST INSTALL THE AC3FILTER!!!! http://ac3filter.sourceforger.net This is because the audio that the camera records is HD AC3 High Definition audio. You have to have an AC3 codec in order to handle it. I can now take MOD files and edit them with sound directly in Premiere Pro 1.5

Lars Guest I have a JVC Gz-mg20E, and I’ve made a small batch-file to help me: echo off echo copies video files to c:\video\%date% MD C:\VIDEO\%date% copy e:\sd_video\prg001\*.mod c:\VIDEO\%date% ren c:\video\%date%\*.mod *.mpg EXIT If you want to use the batch-file you must copy the above text into wordpad and save the file as video.bat (or something like that). When you run the file, it copies the files to a new directory on your harddisk and renames them at the same time.

drew Guest I just bought this jvc hdd 20 and from what they told me at Best Buy, I should be able to just hook up the usb cable and cut and paste my mpeg files to my pc. They did NOT say however that it would be stored as .mod files which my pc doesnt even recognize. All I want to do is to be able to cut the files out of the cam’s hd and paste them on pc so I can use my own editing software. Please help!

Gato Entree Rep: 0 Joined: 11 Nov 2005 Posts: 7 OFFLINE The easiest way is to change the .mod file extentsion to .mpg. If you are having trouble doing this, go to tools, folder options, view, and uncheck hide extensions for known file types. This will allow you to change the extension.

DJ E-Bam Guest Is anybody listening? You don’t have to change the file extension. Just associate MOD files with Premiere and install the AC3 Filter. Then MOD files will be fully editable in Premiere WITH audio. I’m using Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 and it works FLAWLESSLY for me.

It makes - if it doewn’t exist already - a folder called c:\video\“date”, where “date” is the actual date 2. It copies all the video files from the camera to this folder 3.
