importing problem

Ive always used dvd santa, dvd shrink or nero to burn from P2P dvd files (usually avi files),but recently for some reason all these programs have stopped allowing my files to be inported. I get the message: “unable to open the video file”.

Any suggestions ??
(codec issue ? I dont know)

The drive may have region protection since I changed regions to back up a US region 1 dvd bought online. I dont have any changes left.
Now what ?? (desperate)
