Hello,

I know how you feel, i’ve been searching for this codec or a good solution for encoding the files to something else without all the extra work(ie the only work aroudn i’ve found). Nothing as of yet, i’ve asked the same question in the newsgroups and have searched many forums all the same thing, all the problems but no answers.

The workaround which i don’t particualry care for cause it can also introduce other issues is as follows.

extract the dvm audio out with vdub or similar programs. Transcode dvm audio to normal ac3 or whatever format you want with besweet or similar program.

Here’s where i deviate from the solution as i don’t want elementary streams, if so encode with video only and then you have a video and audio stream seperate.

load convertion program such as tmpgenc or such, select avi file for video and extracted (and transcoded ac3) file for the audio and convert as nomral producing a normal mpeg for dvd authoring.

hope this helps to a real solution is found.

Found this in another thread:
You can play ac3 after you have installed the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack from The Official Codec Pack Guide http://www.codecpackguide.com/
